For the third time, the title of Scottish Baker of the Year is heading back to the Highlands.
Harry Gow has officially been crowned Scottish Baker of the Year once again, becoming the first bakery in Scotland to win the prestigious title three times and marking a historic moment for the Highland family business.
Held in Glasgow, the awards celebrate the very best of Scotland’s baking industry, recognising excellence in craftsmanship, quality, consistency and customer experience.
But for Harry Gow, this year’s success became about far more than a single title.
Five National “Best in Scotland” Awards
The evening became the most successful awards night in Harry Gow’s history, with the bakery winning five out of eleven national “Best in Scotland” awards across the competition.
Alongside Scottish Baker of the Year, Harry Gow also won:
- Best Biscuit in Scotland for the Chocolate Caramel Shortbread
- Best Doughnut in Scotland for the Lemon Meringue Pie Doughnut
- Best Multiple Retail Product in Scotland for the Vanilla Raspberry Slice
- Best Pastry in Scotland for the Pain Suisse
- Best Celebration Cake in Scotland
The wins recognise not only the finished products customers see in stores every day, but also the skill, consistency and dedication behind the scenes across the business.
More Than Just Trophies
For Harry Gow, the awards represent decades of early mornings, flour-covered aprons, family recipes, loyal customers and a team committed to maintaining the standards the bakery has become known for across Scotland.
David Gow said:
“To receive these awards means a huge amount to us as a family business. Nights like this are incredibly special because they reflect the hard work, care and pride that goes into every single part of Harry Gow every day.
To be recognised not only as Scottish Baker of the Year again, but also across so many different product categories, is something the whole team should be incredibly proud of.
My dad built the business on strong values and high standards, and it is important to us that those foundations continue to guide everything we do as the business grows.”
A Highland Bakery at Heart
Founded in the Highlands, Harry Gow has grown from a local bakery into one of Scotland’s most recognisable bakery brands, while still staying true to the values it was built on: proper baking, quality ingredients, hard work and strong community roots.
Today, the business operates 19 shops across the Highlands, with products also stocked in selected Co-op stores and supermarkets.
For many families, Harry Gow has become part of everyday life. From birthday cakes and weekend treats to morning rolls on the way to work and empire biscuits shared around kitchen tables, the bakery continues to hold a special place within communities across the region and beyond.
The Team Behind the Baking
The latest awards also shine a light on the people behind the scenes whose work makes Harry Gow what it is today.
Fraser Gow added:
“Everyone sees the finished products in the shops, but there is an incredible amount of dedication behind the scenes to make that happen every single day. These achievements belong to the whole team across the business.
We’ve grown a lot over the years, but we’ve always wanted Harry Gow to still feel familiar, welcoming and true to the character people know us for.”
Despite national recognition and continued growth, the focus for the business remains exactly where it has always been: baking products people genuinely love and creating the familiar moments customers have come to associate with Harry Gow over the years.
Because behind the awards and national recognition is still the same Highland bakery built on hard work, quality baking and communities that continue to support it year after year.
